Advice given to those wanting to teach in Thailand
16/03/2010
Advice has been offered to people who would like to teach English in Thailand by a travel website.
The recommendations have been made by Suite101.com in an effort to help these individuals to decide how to approach their first day in a Thai classroom.
Preparation is the key according to the web portal, which states that those wanting to make a good first impression should bring along a wealth of material, such as handouts and flash cards - in order to encourage student participation.
Lessons should not be too simple as most students will have already learnt the basics of the language, yet they should not be so advanced that the children find it too difficult.
Injecting some fun into proceedings is advised as well and those who can engage the youngsters early on "will reap the rewards".
Last month, Thailand's prime minister, Abhisit Vejjajiva, said that a new body needs to be set up in the country to oversee and advance education reform.
