Benefits
Medical support
All volunteers will need to have a medical check-up and vaccinations before they leave for their placements. We will also organise for all volunteers to receive a detailed health briefing before they leave for their placement.
During the placements the local VSO office will provide emergency medical support to the volunteers. All the VSO volunteers are covered through a comprehensive medical insurance.
If you have any specific questions or concerns please email us at ivo@mitra.org.in

Safety and security
Before you go overseas with iVolunteer Overseas we’ll provide six days of training to prepare you for the changes that you will experience and for your work in development overseas. We also provide you with security and medical briefings.
Your most regular contact will be with your employer and they act as your primary means of support. They will also provide you a safety and security briefing that is more in context with local situation.
Your local VSO office will help with major personal, medical or security problems.
VSO chooses to work in those areas where security risks are unlikely. In this way we hope that our volunteers will have the best prospect of contributing to sustainable development. VSO staff in each country closely monitor the security situation. You will not be asked to work in any area where there is immediate danger from war, civil unrest or natural disaster.
Visas and flights
iVolunteer Overseas (IVO) will liaise with you to submit documents or certificates required by embassies to get the required visa. However this will require that you have a valid passport (with at least two years of validity).
Please note that IVO will only pay for costs associated visas and not for passports.
IVO will make all the arrangements for your travel to your placement country and will pay for your tickets.
